Dr. Salomon is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Certified Forensic Specialist in Child and Family Issues, and Director of PIP-MHC. He has been in practice for over 45 years. During his career he has provided services to people of all ages and backgrounds using various modalities that include individual, marital, family and group therapy.
Dr. Salomon holds certifications in Child and Family Forensic Issues, the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, and in Contemporary Psychoanalysis. Dr. Salomon is licensed as a Psychologist in Arizona and in California.
Dr. Salomon received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York in 1977 and his Psy.D. In Psychoanalysis from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Los Angeles, CA in 2010. He is licensed in both Arizona and California.
Dr. Salomon’s experience has included outpatient, inpatient, and day hospitalization populations.
Dr. Salomon has supervised and taught paraprofessionals, psychology students and interns, psychiatric residents, family practice residents, psychiatrists, and psychologists in his various positions as a Director of a Community Mental Health Center in New York City, as an adjunct professor, and as the Director of a multi-discipline, private practice group (PIP-MHC).
Dr. Salomon’s orientation is primarily Contemporary Psychoanalytic with strong Existential-Humanistic and Family Systems influences. Throughout, he has applied his orientation in assessment and therapy with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Dr. Salomon has had intensive training with John E. Exner, Jr., Ph.D. in the Comprehensive System of the Rorschach. He has also had special training in dealing with Cults and deprogramming from Dr. Byron Norton, a national expert in this area. Dr. Salomon also completed a training course in Child and Family Forensic Issues under the tutelage of Dr. Robin Deutsch at William James College in Newton, MA. In addition, Dr. Salomon has specialized training in Psychological Autopsy.
Dr. Salomon was the co-founder and Founding President of the Phoenix Psychoanalytic Study Group. He was the Chairperson of the Arizona State Psychological Association Ethics Committee from 1997 to 2000.
He was an Adjunct Professor in the Clinical Psychology Program at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology (ASPP)-Argosy University – Phoenix.
Dr. Salomon has authored several articles for the Arizona Psychological Association Newsletter, e.g., “A Supervisory Thing Happened on the Way to the Ethics Forum,” and “Ethics Beyond the Grave” and is a contributor to several online psychoanalytic discussion groups.
Dr. Salomon has developed a specialty in the evaluation and reporting of extreme and exceptional hardship concerning immigration issues and its effects on the family. He has testified before the Court and has written over 35 reports, which have been presented to the Court.
His graduation paper for the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, “Multi-modal Multi-member Nonlinear Dynamic Family Systems Psychoanalysis,” (2009) seeks to create a new and more effective way of helping individuals and families with serious psychological issues. It is this approach which he has developed over the 45 years of his practice that has helped troubled individuals and their families to resolve their problems. He consulted with the American Psychological Association Advisory Counsel to ensure ethical principles would be maintained.
Dr. Salomon is also the co-creator and the Director of Clinical Training for The Phoenix Institute of Psychotherapy – Mental Health Center (PIP-MHC). (is this still a thing?)
